Shamanic Festival Wedding in Portugal
I was super excited when my dear friends Joanna (@pinapolar) and Chris (@zwlokii) invited me to photograph their wedding in Portugal, which happened to be a part of a festival. I knew right away it was going to be the coolest wedding I'd ever been to. I mean, a festival wedding? It was something I'd always wanted to capture, and here was my chance to celebrate and take pictures of my friends' love story! 🥰
When I got there, I was seriously impressed by how the festival was set up. There were three stages, a big circus tent, a bar, bathrooms and showers, a camping area, and lots of wonderful people all gathered together.
Joanna and Chris are very spiritual, and many of their friends are like-minded, doing amazing things in life. They contributed to the festival by organising workshops and classes. Some of the cool stuff they had included yoga sessions, deep breathing with crystal bowls, a clown workshop, circus training, coffee readings, and even some great DJs spinning tunes. There was so much going on!
Now, let's talk about the wedding ceremony. It wasn't your usual one; it was more like a shamanic ceremony. With Chris leading the way, we all walked toward the house where Joanna was getting ready.
We walked together to the sound of drums, and we ended up on a hill, where there was this beautiful handmade wooden arch. The scenery was incredible! Just imagine this: behind the 'altar,' the sun was setting, casting a warm, golden light. On the other side, there was a dark blue sky with not one but two rainbows, and we even heard some distant thunder. It felt like Joanna and Chris had arranged this amazing natural show just for their wedding. I can tell you, I'll remember that moment forever. The love and positive energy from everyone were so strong, and I felt so lucky to be there with my camera.
As soon as the ceremony ended, it started to rain, and a river that had been dry for a whole year suddenly started flowing again. It was truly amazing to witness.
I want to say a big thank you to Joanna and Chris for inviting me to be a part of this incredible event and for letting me capture these special memories. It wasn't just a celebration of their love; it was also a demonstration of what a group of friends can achieve when they work together. Everything you saw at the festival was put together by their friends, who worked really hard to make it all happen. It was a labour of love, and I'm so grateful I got to see it all.
